Just for Unit Commissioners

Minimize

A friend, representative, unit 'doctor', teacher, and counselor.

Unit Commissioners are district leaders who help Scout units succeed. They coach and consult with adult leaders of Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, and Venturing crews. Commissioners help maintain the standards of the Boy Scouts of America. They also oversee the unit charter renewal plan so that each unit reregisters on time with an optimum number of youth and adult members.

Journey to Excellence (Quality Unit)

Minimize

Journey to Excellence (JTE) is the new performance assessment, communication, and recognition program being utilized by the Boy Scouts of America to help measure and improve the elements of our council, district, and unit performance.

The Commissioner Corps has a critical role in the roll out and implementation of Journey to Excellence. It is important that the Commissioner Corps review the elements of the program and be able to talk knowledgeably with your units about how they can take advantage of JTE.

Three of the elements in JTE relate directly to Commissioner service. First, Commissioners help units achieve their JTE award, on the District JTE criteria. Two focuses on the need to register the Commissioner Corps, in all capacities, and increase our numbers over the prior year. The third element focuses on the use of the Unit Visit Tracking System 2.0 (UVTS 2.0) to record a minimum level of unit visits per year. Many other elements relate indirectly to commissioner service, like camp attendance, advancement, etc. These are all impacted by commissioners, through well planned assignments for monthly visits.
